DEFIANCE – The Tinora Rams boys basketball team saw their season come to an end Wednesday night as the Lincolnview Lancers came away with a 59-45 win in the District Finals held at Defiance High School.

Lincolnview would see its lead grow to as many as 20, 40-20, with just over three minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Rams, as they have done all season long, refused to throw in the towel as they trimmed the lead down to as little as nine, 51-42, on a Parker Hancock three-pointer with 1:20 remaining in the contest.

Lincolnview would live at the line in the fourth quarter, converting 14 free throws, 10 by Max Hammons, who would finish with a game-high 23 points.

Josh Lieb’s layup with 5:01 in the opening quarter would give the Rams their only lead of the night, a 5-4 advantage. The #1-seeded Lancers would outscore the Rams 11-0 to close out the initial quarter of the Semi-Finals. Max Hammons would notch six points for Lincolnview in the opening eight minutes.

Grant Lymanstall’s three-pointer with 5:45 in the second quarter would be the only hoop by the Rams in over 11 minutes, as the Lancers lead grew to 22-10 with just over two minutes in the half. Gavin Evans would notch five points in the quarter as Lincolnview would take a 25-15 lead to the half.

The Lancers wasted little time in the third as Chayse Overholt’s deep three just two seconds into the quarter. Holden Price’s drive and score increased the Lancers lead to 35-15 with 5:40 remaining in the third quarter.

The Rams would start their comeback as they would outscore Lincolnview 10-5 to end the third stanza. Lymanstall’s five markers in the quarter keyed the Tinora comeback attempt. The Rams defense would hold the Lancers scoreless over the final four minutes of the quarter, Lincolnview still held a 40-26 advantage.

Max Hammons would finally break Lincolnview’s scoring drought with a drive and score. The bucket gave the Lancers a 42-26 lead with 6:05 remaining in the game.

Tinora could get no closer than 51-42, as the Lancers would score 19 points in the final quarter, 14 from the free throw line, as they would go on for a 59-45 win to advance to take on Ginsonburg, who beat Maumee Valley Country Day, 62-60.

Tinora played its first game at the Districts since the 2016 season.

Congratulations to the Lancers.
