Lady Rams rain threes, drop Hilltop 70-38

Coming off an impressive road win at Delta on Friday afternoon, the Lady Rams again loaded the busses, this time to head to Hilltop to take on the Lady Cadets in a non conference matchup.

Both squads were entering the night with 2-1 records, Hilltop coming in winning two straight contests.

Heading into the Bunker at Hilltop High School, Lady Rams head coach Kyle Tietje certainly knew his team would have a tough matchup, especially with the three Baker girls, Lana, Libbie, and Leanna, all towering over the Lady Rams and the court, each at six feet tall.

Driving the lane as they had done over the first three games was more than likely off the board for Tinora. So, if you can’t drive the lane with the three towers guarding the inside, I guess one could just shoot it over the top. And shoot over the top, the Lady Rams indeed did.

After the first quarter saw both teams march up and down the court in a frantic pace, the quarter ended with the teams tied at 15 each.

The second quarter saw much of the same, up and down action, Hilltop cut the Tinora lead from 10 down to just four, 31-27, right before the half. Tinora freshman Nova Okuley drained a three from the left wing wight at the buzzer, sending the Lady Rams into the half with a 34-27 lead. Rams junior Live Mueller led the way with 12 points at the half.

Both the Tinora offense and defense made halftime adjustments. Coming out of the locker room smoking hot, Tinora drained 11 three pointers in the second half and limited the Lady Cadets to just 11 second half points.

Tinora outscored the Lady Cadets in the third, 23-4 to grad a 57-31 lead after three. Tinora scored the first nine points of the third, and never looked back.

The fourth quarter saw much of the same, the Lady Rams bombing from deep, outscoring Hilltop in the final stanza 23-7, walking away with a 70-38 convincing win over the Lady Cadets of Hilltop.

The Lady Rams would connect on nearly half of their three point attempts tonight, shooting a red-hot 15-31 from beyond the arc.
The Tinora swarming D forced 32 Hilltop turnovers as well tonight. Despite the Hilltop height advantage, the Lady Rams out rebounded the Lady Cadets 25-22.

With the win, Tinora moves to 3-1, the Lady Rams will host Continental on Thursday. Get out and watch this fun bunch!
Hilltop falls to 2-2, they will make the short trip to Stryker on Thursday night.

The Higbea Embroidery Player of the game went to Live Mueller. Liv ended her night with 22 points on 5 three pointers, and 4 rebounds.

The JV Rams were victorious, 60-6.
Sierra Brown led with 20, Aaliyah Dombroff 12, Julia Durfey 10.
