A rugged first five minutes was quickly righted after a timeout by Lady Rams head coach Kyle Tietje. After seeing his team operate like a bike with the chain off the teeth of the pedals, coach Tietje made sure his Lady Rams put the chain back on correctly.
The Lady Rams led the visiting Pirates of Continental after one quarter, 16-5, despite the rough start.
After being held scoreless for the first nine minutes of the contest, Lady Rams junior Liv Mueller caught fire, scoring 13 points within six minutes in the second quarter. Tinora headed into the locker room with a halftime lead of 31-7. Tinora freshman Nova Okuley had eight points for the Lady Rams at the half.
Despite the numerous turnovers of their own in the first half, the Tinora defense tightened the seal on the Pirates, forcing double-digit errors on the Continental offense.
The second half saw a newly implemented OHSAA rule, a running clock, midway through the third quarter. The Tinora swarming D forced the Continental offense in to more double-digit turnovers, Tinora ended the quarter with a 44-12 advantage.
With the continuous cunning clock, the final stanza came and went in a flash, The Lady Rams came away with a 47-15 victory over the Continental Lady Pirates.
With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 4-1.
The Lady Rams will travel to Defiance High School on Monday and Tuesday to take part in the annual DTP, the Defiance Physical Therapy Classic.
Continental is still looking for their first win of the season, now 0-4.
The Higbea Embroidery of the game went to Liv Mueller for the second straight game. Liv ended with three more threes and 19 total points on the night. Congratulations Liv.
