Lady Rams 9 Edgerton 5

In a setting that only Dorothy Gale would feel comfortable in, at times it seemed like the Lady Rams and the visiting Edgerton Bulldogs were playing in gale force winds.

The winds that were gusting up to 40 mph at times, look out the Tinora backstop netting, it took a crew of parents, coaches and THS staff to get the netting back in place by game time.

Tinora was coming in at 4-2, 1-0 in GMC play. The Lady Rams were coming in off one of the biggest wins in the past few years, a 3-0 shutout over Fairview, snapping the Lady Apaches 33 game winning streak in the process.
Edgerton enters at 2-4, 1-0 in conference play.

Tinora headman Tony Fairchild sent out sophomore ace Scylea Zolman. Zolman coming off the no hit shutout vs Fairview found herself in hot water right out of the game. The first two Edgerton hitters reached, both scored on a two run double by Corinne Cape giving Edgerton a 2-0 lead before the Lady Rams recorded an out. The sophomore Zolman recovered, retiring the next three Edgerton hitters.

The Lady Rams followed suit, two of the first three Tinora hitters reached, the lone Tinora senior Quinn Horn drilled a three run homerun deep over the centerfield fence, giving Tinora a 3-2 lead after one inning.

The Lady Bulldogs came back to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the second. Holly Stork scored the third Edgerton run on a Lady Rams two out fielding error.

Lady Rams Tanae Smith led off the bottom of the third with a single, she would score on a Paige Carpenter single, giving the Lady Rams a 4-3 lead. Scylea Zolman would give the Lady Rams a 6-3 lead with a two run homerun over the left field fence.

Edgerton closed the gap to 6-5 with two more runs in the top of the fourth inning. A two out two wild pitch allowed Everetts to score from third, to cut the lead to 6-4. An infield RBI single from Noelle Ritter scored Corrine Cape, cutting the Tinora lead to just one.

Tinora would add a single run in the bottom of the fourth, an RBI double by Logan McQuillin scored Zoe Roesti, the Lady Rams would lead 7-5 after four.

Lady Rams first baseball Paige Carpenter would again come through, this time smashing a pitch from Edgerton starter Ashlyn Sleesman deep over the left field fence, giving Tinora an 8-5 lead after five.

The Lady Rams would score their final run on a fielders choice in the bottom of the sixth, Anna Frazier scored on a Holmes ground out.

The Tinora starter Zolman weathers the early storm and battled through the next three innings to pick up her fifth win on the season.

With the win, Tinora improves to 5-2, 2-0 in the GMC. The Lady Rams will travel to Allen East on Saturday for an 11 am start.

Edgerton falls to 2-5, 1-1 in conference play.

The Higbea Embroidery Player of the Game went to Paige Carpenter. Paige would reach base all three times, an HR and two RBI. Congratulations Paige!
