SHERWOOD: Trailing 14-7 midway in the third quarter, the Tinora Rams were driving, looking to tie the game vs GMC foe Fairview in a crucial early season conference tilt.

As a packed house at The Reservation at Fairview High School looked on, the Apaches Jonathon Huffman stepped in front of a Owen Ferrell pass and took it back for a 70 yard score, and a 21-7 lead for the host Apaches.

All the momentum swung to the Apaches afterwards as they went on for a 49-28 win over the Rams.

Fairview got things rolling in the first quarter as Logan Olinger, in for Zeedyke on a 3rd and short, took the QB snap, ran into the Tinora defensive line, then bounced it out to the left, and raced 48 yards for the initial score of the game. Landric VanderMade’s XP gave the Apaches an early 7-0 lead with 9:58 on the first quarter clock.

On their next series, the Rams drove the field inside the Apache 20, only to see their drive stopped by a interception by Brody Williams at the 10 yard line.

William Zeedyk’s run from a yard out midway through the second quarter gave the Apaches a 14-7 lead after the VanderMade XP, 6:22 remained in the half.

The Tinora offense finally got on the board as Cooper Replogle pounded it in from the 1 yard line, the Hancock XP cut the deficit to 14-7 with 2:33 in the second quarter. Replogle would have a career day, rushing for 216 yards on the night.

As mentioned above the game swung in the middle of the third quarter as Huffman’s interception return gave Fairview a 21-7 advantage with 8:08 remaining in the third stanza.

All State QB as a Jr, the now senior Zeedyke drove the Apaches offense downfield, taking it in from 3-yards out for a 28-7 advantage after VanderMade’s XP with 5:49 in the third.

Tinora would not stop, the Rams came right back as Replogle’s second TD, this one from 3-yards away, cut the deficit to 28-14 after the Hancock XP at the 2:06 mark of the third quarter.

The high powered Fairview offense struck to start the fourth quarter as Logan Olinger hauled in a 56 yard dart from Zeedke. VanderMade tacked on the XP for a 35-14 Fairview lead with 11:44 remaining.

Cooper Replogle’s 37 yard scamper on the next Tinora series cut the Apaches lead to 35-21 with 11:28 on the 4th quarter clock.

The man of the hour, Jonathon Huffman, hauled in a 5-yard TD catch in the corner of the endzone with 7:25 remaining increased the Apache lead to 42-21 after the XP by VanderMade.

Logan Olinger and the Apaches put the game out of reach with a 37 yard score from Zeedyke, Fairview took a 49-21 advantage with 3:41 left in the contest.

Tinora’s Josh Lieb finished the scoring as he snagged a 20 yard TD from Ferrell with 50 seconds in the game, the Hancock XP closed the books, 49-28.

Tinora drops to 1-4, 1-1 in the GMC. Tinora will travel to Antwerp to take on the Archers next Friday.

Fairview remains perfect at 5-0, 2-0 in the GMC. The Apaches travel to Paulding Friday for a huge GMC contest.

The Patriot Outdoor Hunting Play of the Game went to Cooper Replogle for his TD in the 4th quarter. Congratulations, Cooper.

The Fairview win for their first vs Tinora since a 50-0 win back in 2019.
