Senior to be Jayden Bergman was a force not only on the mound, but at the plate as well as the Rams move into the winners bracket in the District 2 Acme district tournament.
The righty was dominant on the hill, shutting out the Kalida Wildcats 8-0 in Game #1 to advance to the winner’s bracket in the double elimination tournament held this weekend at Miller City High School.
Bergman went 7 innings in the complete game win, striking out 11 Wildcat batters while allowing just 4 hits.
With the win, Tinora advances to Game #3 Saturday morning vs the Wauseon Indians, who defeated the hosts, the Miller City Wildcats 5-0 in Game #2.
While keeping the Kalida bats off balance most of the game, Bergman also aided his own cause at the dish, reaching base in all of his four plate appearances, going 2 for 3 with a walk, as well as 2 runs scored,
The Tinora bats came out blazing, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the first, never looking back in the 8-8 victory.
Tinora increased their lead to 5-0 in the fifth inning on in an RBI single by catcher Tyler Weimken.
Rams second baseball Cole Commisso left no doubt in the outcome in the sixth inning, smashing a two run home run over the left field fence, giving the Rams a 7-0 lead. Tinora added their final run on a bases loaded fielders choice by Casen Wolfrum, scoring Eli Plassman.
With the win, Rams acme Head Coach Doug Plassman and his Rams improve to 19-2 on the season, advancing to the winner’s bracket vs Wauseon Saturday at 11 am at Miller City.
