DEFIANCE – Savannah Schroeder’s three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 7-7. Zoe Billings would reach and score the winning run on a Taylor Spangler groundout, and shortstop Madison Spangler’s game-saving double play ended it, as the Tinora Lady Rams rallied for an 8-7 win Monday over Defiance.
Trailing 7-4 entering the top of the seventh, Tinora would score four runs off Defiance ace, Addi Miller.
Karli Carperter would reach on an error to start the seventh for the Lady Rams. After an intentional walk to Madison Spangler, who previously hit a two-run home run in the third, sophomore Savannah Schroeder would club a three-run home run to tie the game at 7-7.
With one out, Zoe Billings would reach on an error and move all the way to third on the same error. She would score on a Taylor Spangler groundout, giving the Lady Rams an 8-7 lead.
Defiance’s Khloe Siler would reach to start the top of the seventh on a single to left. Siler should steal second, then advance to third with one out on a wild pitch. Elley Ward would rip a pitch to Madison Spangler in the hole at short; she would beat Siler in a race to third base for the final out, giving the Lady Rams their first win of the season.
Defiance truck first in the bottom of the first as Addi Miller would triple and score on a dropped third strike, the Bulldogs lead 1-0 after one.
Tinora tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second on an RBI single by Lexi Baldwin, scoring Schroeder.
Defiance added a run in the bottom of the second on a BRI single by Storie Krebs, scoring Isabella Rowlinson to take a 2-1 lead.
Madison Spangler’s fourth homerun of the season gave the Lady Rams a 3-2 lead in the top of the third. Scoring was Christina Meyer, who singled to start the inning.
The Bulldogs took a 6-3 lead with three runs in the bottom of the third. King-Mayeku and Elley Ward scored on a triple by Ruth Green to make it 4-3, then a double by Aliana Stanz scored Green for a 5-3 lead. Stanz would score on a Rowlison flyout. Defiance led 6-3 after three innings.
Defiance added their seventh run on a ground out by Viviana King-Mayeku for a 7-3 lead after four.
The Lady Rams would scrap back and add a solo run at the top of the fifth on a Zoe Billings sac fly, scoring Karli Carpenter, who singled to start the inning. Tinora trailed 7-4 through five innings of play before the seventh inning rally.
Tinora improves to 1-5. The Lady Rams will host Patrick Henry on Tuesday.
Defiance drops to 1-3. The ‘Dogs will travel to Bath on Tuesday to start WBL play.
