Tinora 49 Delta 42

JEWELL – It was raining threes at Tinora High School on Friday night as the Tinora Rams battled the Delta Panthers as both teams entered at 1-0 on the new season.

The Rams took control of the first quarter, exiting with an 11-5 lead after the initial stanza.

The Delta zone defense stalled the Rams offense in the second quarter. Although frustrated at times, the Tinora offense seemed to run with precision, passing the ball, looking for the best available shot, and at times, taking 1-2 minutes off the clock.

The influence of patience preached by former Rams and Hall of of Fame coach Paul Wayne definitely showed at times throughout the contest for the Tinora offense.

The third quarter saw Tinora solve the Delta hard nose defense, Rams seniors Eli Plassman and Luke Harris took control of the quarter and the game. Harris and Plassman would each bucket five three pointers on the night.
Tinora would end the thirst quarter with a 31-23 advantage

In the fourth quarter would see the Rams lead grow to as many as 12, but see Delta cut it to as low as five in the final six minutes.

The Rams would live at the free throw line over the final 90 seconds. Despite missing several one and one free throws, the Rams would hit the clutch freebies when it mattered. Senior Luke Harris would score six points off free throws in the final minutes, sealing the Tinora win.

The Rams would eventually outlast the Panthers en route to a 49-42 victory over the Delta.

The Higbea Embroidery Player of the Game would be awarded to Senior Eli Plassman. Eli rebounded with a 17 point performance, bucketing five three pointers.
