BRYAN – The Tinora Lady Rams coming off a season opening loss at Miller City hit the road for the second straight game, this time traveling over to Bryan to take on the perennial power, the Lady Golden Bears who came in at 1-1.
Bryan, coming off a NWOAL title also has a 40-10 record over the course of the past two seasons.
Despite graduating Addie Arnold, who was a first team All-NWOAL selection along with Delilah Taylor, who was a second team honoree, the Lady Golden Bears still return tons of talent as they look for their third staring NWOAL title.
As in the 56-43 loss to Miller City, the Lady Rams had trouble with the full court press, this night it was Bryan applying the pressure throughout the contest.
After the first quarter, Bryan jumped out to a 20-8 lead, the Lady Golden Bears never looked back, leading by as much as 24.
The second quarter was a quarter both teams would like to forget, Bryan scored just six points in the third, the six points came via ex Lady Ram transfer Anna Gray.
With the sluggish, sloppy play by both squads in the second quarter, Bryam took a 26-13 lead to the half. Gray led the way with nine first half points, while Maggi Nagel lead Tinora with three points.
The second half brought more of the same for Tinora, suffocating defense by Bryan led the Lady Rams to nine third quarter points, Bryan poured in 18 points to take a 44-22 lead to the fourth.
The story of the second stanza was Bryan’s Reese Grothaus as she poured in 12 second half points, ending the game with a team high 17 with three 3 pointers made.
Tinora tried to get back into the game despite the large deficit, but the Lady Golden Bears defense would deny the Lady Rams any comeback attempt, walking away with a 50-28 win.
The loss dropped Tinora to 0-2, the Lady Rams next game is their home opener vs Hilltop on Monday, 11/28.
Bryan improves to 2-1. The Lady Golden Bears will travel to take on Wayne Trace on Tuesday, 11/29.
