In the regular season finale for both teams, the #1 and #2 seeds in the upcoming OHSAA Division III Defiance District got one final tuneup game in before each play their Sectional Final on Friday.
The Rams brought their 8 game winning streak and their 19-5 record against the Co-NWOAL champs, the 15-8 Bluestreaks from Archbold. Archbold tied with Patrick Henry atop the NWOAL standings with a 6-1 conference record.
It was the Devon Morris show at Grube Field on Tuesday. All Morris did was come through with two key two out hits in the sixth and seventh innings, go 4 for 4, with a walk, a single, two doubles, and a game winning three run homerun in the top of the seventh.
Morris’s double in the top of the sixth broke an 8-8 tie, and his three run homerun in the top of the seventh was the deciding factor in the ‘Streaks 12-8 win.
Archbold jumped on Tinora starter Eli Plassman in the first inning, scoring four runs, grabbing an early 4-0 lead.
Tinora answered with two runs in the bottom of the first of Archbold’s Masen Towns, cutting the lead to 4-2 after one inning.
Archbold increased their lead to 5-1 on a Jayden Seiler solo homerun to deep left.
Tinora would bounce back and grab a 6-5 lead after four. Tinora would score four unearned runs in the inning of Towns and the ‘Streaks. Hunter Bostelman and Eli Plassman with back to back run scoring singles gave the Rams the lead.
Archbold regained the lead in the sixth on the Morris double, 6-6.
Tinora stormed back to tie the game at 8-8 in the bottom of the sixth. BJ Morlock would single and score on an Ayden Moser single, cutting the lead to 8-7. Grady Gustwiller scored on Dalton Wolfrum;s single, tying it at 8-8 after six.
Tinora drops to 19-5. The Rams will play host to the Delta/Ottawa Hills winner on Friday, 5 pm first pith
