679, that was the amount of career combined wins between two of the longer-tenured coaches in the area, Tinora’s Brent Renollet and Miller City’s Dusty Pester.
The Rams jumped on Miller City with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Dalton Woldrum’s hustle double knocked in Kadyn Radzik, giving the Rams a 1-0 lead.
Hunter Bostelman gave the Rams a 2-0 lead as he singled to center field. Miller City’s Thomas Weis threw a dart to the plate on the single, cutting down Teron Ward at the plate for the final out of the inning.
The Rams of Tinora would add four unearned runs in the bottom of the as the Miller City defense decided to take the inning off.
Kadyn Radzik would cause havoc at the plate and on the bases all afternoon long. Radzik led off the inning with a single, would steal two bases, and scored on another error by the Wildcats, this one off the bat of Dalton Wolfrum. Radzik would score, making it 3-0 Tinora on a Teron Ward double to center.
Wolfrum would come around to score on a Luke Harris single, increasing the Tinora lead to 4-0 in the third.
After reaching safely, both Mason McQuillin and Bostelman would pull off a double steal, putting the two Rams in scoring position. BJ Morlock’s opposite-field single with two outs plated two more runs, scoring both McQuillin and Hunter Bostelman, putting Tinora on top, 6-0 after three innings of play at Grube Field.
Miller City would get on the board with a single run in the top of the fourth. Three straight singles by the Wildcats, Jared Neise, Brendan Barlage, and Thomas Weis loaded the bases with one out. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Ethan Barlage cut the Rams lead to 6-1 after four innings.
Tinora added a run in the bottom of the fifth to increase their lead to 7-1. Kayden Radzik would reach on a hit-by-pitch, steal his third base of the day, and score on Dalton Wolfrum’s RBI single to center.
The Wildcats would get their last run of the afternoon in the top of the fifth. With one out, Miller City again would put together three straight singles, this time by Will Otto, Brent Koenig, and CJ Lehman.
The Wildcats cut the lead to 7-2 on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Caleb Niese.
The final scoring of the game came in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Tinora’s Eli Plassman, BJ Morlock, and Grady Guswiller would all reach safely. Plassman would plate the Rams eight run on a passed ball, giving the Rams an 8-2 lead.
After 5 strong innings by the Rams sophomore righty, Hunter Bostelman. Mason McQuillin would come on to get the final six outs, giving Tinora its 18 win of the season.
Bostelman would limit the Wildcats to just two runs on seven hits. Bostelman would strike out five and walk just two.
McQuillin would again impress, striking out four Miller City batters in his two innings of work.
With the win, Tinora improves to 18-4 on the season. The Rams will host Delta on Monday, and Archbold on Tuesday.
Miller City Drops to 14-12 on the season. The Wildcats will host Delphos Jefferson in the OHSAA Semifinals on May 16 at 5 pm.
The Player of the game went to Hunter Bostelman. Bostelman picked up his first career win at the varsity level while alos collecting an RBI double. Congratulations, Hunter.
