PETTISVILLE – Senior Night at Pettisville saw the Blackbird faithful celebrate the senior careers of BBC Player of the Year Cayden Jacoby, Sean Adkins, Jaret Beck, Jonah Harmon, and Dane Waidelick.
The full house at The Bird Cage would see Pettisville head coach Brian Leppelmeier reward the five seniors by starting each.
The Blackbirds would lead the Rams by as may as 15 points in the first half, a half that saw junior Joey Ripke steal the thunder of the seniors with 17 first half points.
Pettisville would lead after one quarter, 21-11, and take a 35-25 lead to the half.
Tinora;s Owen Ackerman and Alex Homier showed much promise in the opening half, each slashed and dashed to six points each. Luke Harris would lead the Rams with eight in the half.
Tinora would slowly fight their way back into the contest in the third, Eli Plassman would nail a three at the buzzer to curt the Blackbirds lead to 43-40 after three.
A circus shot by Luke Harris cut the lead down to just one at 43-42 at the 7:10 mark in the final quarter.
Unfortunately for Tinora, Pettisville would go on a run, building a 10 point lead with just over two minutes remaining.
Tinora would not go quietly, they would get within two on a deep three by Luke Harris, his 25th point of the game with two seconds remaining. Tinora would be unable to stop the clock as they were out of timeouts, the Blackbirds would hold on for a 61-59 win.
The Rams put together a great performance after last week’s disappointing losses to Antwerp and Crestview.
Tinora falls to 8-13. Senior Night for the Rams is Friday 2/17 vs Edon, please get out and suppoert the seniors.
Pettisville improves to 14-8. The Blackbirds will tuneup for their sectional opener vs Edgerton on 2/21.
