The Crestview Knights and the Tinora Rams met up for their annual meeting, this season from Tinora High School.
Graduated was Crestview star Kalen Etzler, who is a red-shirt freshman at Ohio State this season, but back is a very solid Knight ball club.
Crestview came in with a solid 13-5 record, winning 5 of their last six games. The Rams entered the game coming off a season high point total, a 63-56 conference win Friday night over Edgerton.
The first quarter saw the Knights dominate with 6′ 5 freshman Wren Sheets, Sheets height was too much for the Rams to handle all night. The Knights exited the first quarter with a 13-4 lead.
In a second quarter that both head coaches would like to forget, Crestview’s Doug Etzler and Tinora’s Kris Lymanstall will more than likely delete the quarter from the game film.
Tinora scored three second quarter points, while Crestview scored four, The Knights headed to the half with a 17-7 lead.
At the half, the Rams honored the 2021 GMC champion football team. The gridiron team won the GMC with a 7-0 record , 10-2 overall, before eventually falling to the State Champions, the Carey Blue devils.
The third quarter saw both teams drastically pick up the scoring, Tinora’s leading scorer Luke Harris, who was limited to just one first half point, exploded for 14 second half points. Tinora however still couldn’t match the height of Crestview’s Sheets. Sheets with 11 second half points led the Knights to a 36-28 lead over the host Rams.
The final quarter saw the Knights lead bounce between 12 and seven points, the Rams couldn’t get over the hump, falling to Crestview, 49-40.
Tinora falls to 5-15. The Rams will have two games next week, the home finale vs Pettisville Thursday, and a Friday makeup game at Antwerp to close out the regular season.
Crestview improves to 14-5.
