Lady Rams 44 Wayne Trace 34

WAYNE TRACE – After not playing for over two weeks, the Lady Rams headed over to take on the Wayne Trace Lady Raiders on a cold Thursday night.

The Lady Rams last basketball game, which seems like it was a month ago, was a loss at home to the Wauseon Indians way back on December 21.

The Lady Rams entered with an 8-3 record, 1-0 in conference play, while the hosts, the Raiders of Wayne Trace entered with a 4-5 mark, 0-1 in the GMC. The Raiders came in with a five game winning streak over the Lady Rams of Tinora.

The Lady Rams didn’t take long to shake off the rust, as they opened with a 12-4 lead after the initial quarter, courtesy of freshman Nova Okuley and her eight points.

The second quarter started with a back to back bombs by Lady Rams Anna Gray, giving Tinora an 18-6 lead. The Tinora defense held the Lady Raider to just five points. The Lady Rams took a 24-11 lead to the locker room.

Starting for the injured Emily Harr was Nova Okuley, Okuley lead all scorers in the half with 10 points, Anna Gray bucketed eight first half points.
The Lady Raiders were led by senior Rachel Stoller who canned nine first half points.

Wayne Trace started the third quarter with a 6-0 run, cutting the Tinora lead to 24-17 with six minutes remaining. Tinora answered with their own 5-0 run, gaining a 29-17 lead courtesy off an Addison Lee three pointer, Tinora led 29-17 with 4:30 in the third.

After the Lady Raiders cut the Rams lead down to seven with just under two minutes remaining in the third, Tinora’s Liv Mueller scored her first points of the game with a runner, giving the Lady Rams a 34-25 lead.

After Tinora turnover, Wayne Trace ended the quarter with a made shot at the buzzer by Abby Moore, the Lady Rams led the Lady Raiders 36-29.

Wayne Trace again cut the Rams lead to six, 38-32 to start the final quarter. However, another long three by Lady Rams Anna Gray, and her second bucket by Liv Mueller increased the Tinora lead back to 43-32 with 4:40 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Tinora’s D limited the Lady Raider offense to just two points in the last five minutes, coming away with a win at the Palace, 44-34.

The Lady Rams executing a perfect old school four corners offense to basically kill the last three minutes of the contest, great job ladies.

With the win, Tinora improves to 9-3, 2-0 in the GMC. Tinora is back in action at home on January 11 vs Elmwood.

Wayne Trace falls to 4-6, 0-2 in the GMC. The Lady Raiders host Lima Central Catholic on January 10.
