TINORA – If you push around the big dog, eventually the big dog is going to bite back.
Tonight was another one of those tests the Lady Rams needed to gauge where they stand as far as jumping to that top step on the porch. Previous tests against Miler City, Archbold, and Fairview went in the favor of the Lady Rams.
Tinora entered the contest tonight at 8-2, coming off that huge GMC win vs Fairview, the Lady Rams welcomed in NWOAL power, and still undefeated, the Wauseon Lady Indians, who entered at 6-0.
Midway through the second quarter from Tinora High School, the Tinora Lady Rams looked to have their way with the visiting Lady Indians of Wauseon. At the 2:30 mark of the half, things were looking great for Tinora.
The Lady Rams controlled most of the first half, leading after one quarter, 15-13. The Tinora D held Wauseon leading scorer Marisa Sieler (22 PPG) to just 2 points after the initial quarter.
At the start of the second quarter, the Lady Rams tough D continued to put the pressure on Wauseon, multiple turnovers, limiting the Lady Indians to one and done on offense, and holding Seiler to just 4 points with 2:30 remaining prior to the half.
A runner in the lane by Tinora’s Nova Okuley increased the Lady Rams lead to nine, 25-16. This is the point, at the 2:30 mark of the second, where the big dog bit back.
Over the next 18 mins and 30 seconds, the lady Rams were outscored 38-13.
Despite the late flurry of points by Wauseon to end the half, Tinora still entered the locker room with a 27-25 lead, they exited the third quarter with 1 point scored, trailing 44-28. The only point in the quarter for Tinora came via a free throw by Anna Gray with 1:38 in the third.
Marissa Seiler exploded for 10 in the third for Wauseon.
The fourth quarter saw the Rams trying to play catch up, unfortunately, the magic the Lady Rams had the first 14 minutes never reappeared. Wauseon left Tinora with a 54-38 win to remain undefeated in 2021.
The Lady Rams of Tinora fall to 8-3. Tinora will not play until 1/6/2022.
Wauseon improves to 7-0
