Liberty Center derails Lady Rams, 39-32

LIBERTY CENTER – Sometimes it’s your night, sometimes it isn’t. Unfortunately for the Tinora Lady Rams, tonight was the night nothing seemed to go right.

Coming into tonight, the Lady Rams were riding high after winning their fifth straight game Tuesday night, moving to a 6-1 record, and coming with that win was the team’s initial Defiance Physical Therapy Championship.

The young, athletic, and tall Liberty Center Lady Tigers didn’t care about all of those headlines the Lady Rams came to town with.

Coming in at 3-2, head coach Tim Davis and his young Lady Tigers used a smothering full court press a majority of the game, leading from the opening tip to the final buzzer, to defeat the Lady Rams of Tinora on a Saturday night from Liberty Center, 39-32.

Using a full court trapping defense, the Lady Tigers jumped out quickly to a 6-0 lead, heading to the end of the quarter with a 13-4 lead over Tinora.

Unable to get many open looks again in the second stanza, the Lady Rams trailed at the half, 18-12. Tinora leading scorers Liv Mueller and Nova Okuley were held to just 4 combined first half points due to the swarming Tigers defense.

The third quarter offered much of the same, Tinora’s offense unable to get much of anything going due to the Liberty Center tight D, the third came to an end with the Lady Rams still trailing by six, 25-19.

Hoping for that second half spark that has been a theme of the Tinora Lady Rams basketball team this season, the Lady Rams could get no closer than five points down the stretch, as the Liberty Center Lady Tigers halted the Lady Rams winning streak at five, defeating Tinora 39-32.

Liberty Center was lead in scoring by Peyton Armey with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers held the Tinora offense to just two made three point shots, and holding Okuley and Mueller to 14 combined points.

The Lady Rams fall to 6-2 and will start GMC play on Thursday as they host the Fairview Apaches.

Liberty Center improves to 3-3, the Lady Tigers will play host to Springfield on Tuesday.

Lady Rams JV team suffered their first loss of the season, 44-36. Despite being down by 20 at the end of the third, the Lady Rams cut the lead to just 5 with 90 seconds remaining before falling by eight. JV Rams now 7-1 this season.
