Lady Rams capture Sectional Championship, advance to Monday

ARCHBOLD – Heading into the Sectional Finals vs the Paulding Lady Panthers, the Tinora Lady Rams volleyball team looked to stay hot as an iron. Having won six straight, a 2021 GMC Championship, and also throw in winning 14 of 15 matches, a rematch with Paulding awaited the Lady Rams.

Tinora brought in an 18-4 mark, while Paulding brought in a 6-16 record. Tinora defeated Delta in the Sectional opener on Monday, Paulding had a bye and did not take the court.

The Tinora senior six of Makenna Reetz, Macey Schlosser, Kjerrstin Scott, Emma Chafins, Brooklyn Reineke, and Quinn Horn brought leadership and calmness to the floor on Wednesday. Playing away from home for one of the few times this season, the Lady Rams saw Paulding jump out to an early first set lead at the Thunder Dome at Archbold High School.

The senior class stepped up and erased the early deficit, tying the set at 10-10 and then took control and closed out the Lady Panthers, winning set one 25-14.

Set two saw Tinora take an early lead, Paulding hung around again, not going quietly, but again the Lady Rams pulled away for a 25-15 second set win.

In the third set, the gleam in the Lady Rams eyes started to appear as they realized they were closing in on a Section Finals Championship, taking the set 25-11, winning the match over Paulding, 3-0.
The Lady Panthers fought to the end, but eventually gave way to Tinora.

With the win, Tinora improves to 19-4, bringing with them another Sectional title, to Defiance High School for the District Semi-Finals. Tinora will play Archbold, who defeated Otsego 3-0, on Monday night at 7 pm from DHS.

The Lady Rams and the Lady Streaks are no strangers, having battled it out for the Spiketacular championship just a few weeks ago in Archbold. In a hard fought, very contested match, Archbold defeated Tinora 2-1. (25-21, 25-27, & 25-21)

The Tinora Lady Rams played a great all around game this evening vs Paulding, playing very well together.

The Higbea Embroidery Player of the Game goes to the senior trio of Makenna Reetz, Brooklyn Reineke, and Quinn Horn. Congratulations girls.
