Tinora 5 Montpelier 4

In a battle of state-ranked teams at Tinora, the Rams came in at #12 in Div III, Montpelier #16 in Div IV, a great game was expected, what everyone got was an instant classic.

Heading into the last inning, the Tinora bats had only registered two runs off the two Montpellier pitchers, Collin Crisenbery and Jaxon Richmond.

Trailing 4-2 in their last at-bat in the 7th inning, the Rams needed a spark. A lead off walk to Max Grube started the Tinora rally. After a ground out by Nolan Schafer advanced Max Grube to second, Tinora sent up senior Marcus Grube. Grube smashed an RBI double down the left-field line scoring twin brother Max, cutting the lead to 4-3.
After intentionally walking Andrew Imthurn, a wild pitch advanced both Grube and Imthurn. Cole Commisso was intentionally walked to load the bases. Up stepped Tinora junior right fielder Bryce Bailey. After Bryce worked the count to 2-2, Bailey hit a slow roller to shortstop, the throw home was high allowing both Marcus Grube to score the trying and Andrew Imthurn to score the winning run in the Rams come from behind 5-4 victory.

Tristen Birks started and went the first four innings before being relieved by Kade Vogelsong. Kade came in and shut the door on the Locos bats over the last three innings.

The usually great Rams defense had 3 errors in the first inning, allowing Montpelier to score two unearned runs taking a 2-0 lead. Tylor Yaharaus hit a two-run home run for Montpellier in the second inning, increasing the Locos lead to 4-0
Tinora broke through in the third with a Schafer run cutting the lead to 4-1. The Rams scored a single run in the fourth, closing the gap to 4-2 before the seventh-inning rally.

Kade Vogelsong gained the Higbea Embroidery Player of the Game award for his relief efforts.

With the win, Tinora improves to 15-2 and will face Antwerp tomorrow in a pivotal GMC matchup from Tinora High School.
