In the yearly match-up that both schools mark on the calendar when the schedules come out, the Tinora Rams traveled to Defiance to take on the Bulldogs. Originally this was scheduled as a Tinora Rams home game, moved to Defiance with the Rams being the home team.
In the first coaches poll released Sunday Night, Defiance was ranked #3 in DIV III, the Rams were ranked #12 in DIV III.
The Rams were coming in winning 11 of their last 12 games, seven straight overall, Defiance came in winning six straight, and 9-1 overall in this non-league contest. Tinora sent junior righty Tristan Birks to the hill, Defiance sent sophomore David Jimenez. Jimenez was making his first start of the season, Birks his second.
After a lead-off single and a stolen base by Bulldog lead off Jimenez, the Bulldogs sent 5 more batters to the plate in the top of the first, scoring 1 run on 2 hits and a walk while leaving 2 runners on base. After a rocky first inning, Tinora hurler Tristan Birks settled down over the next 6 innings, limiting Defiance to zero runs on just 2 hits. Birks at one time retired 11 straight at Defiance hitters.
The Rams bats came in averaging 14 runs per game, but Jimenez had the Rams hitters off-balance in his 6 innings pitched. Tinora scored 2 runs in the bottom of the second on back-to-back RBI singles by Jayden Bergman & Casen Wolfrum to grab a 2-1 lead. Tinora added single runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth to get the 4-1 victory.
The Higbea Embroidery player of the Game award went to Rams starter Tristan Birks.

The Rams are scheduled to play GMC foes Hicksville on Tuesday and Ayersville on Thursday.
