Tinora 10 Fairview 5

They say good pitching stops good hitting, that was proven tonight with both aces on the hill for their respected teams. The Tinora Rams headed into Fairview with a 7-2 overall record and a 1-0 GMC mark while averaging over 14 runs per game. Fairview came into the contest averaging 12+runs and a record of 3-4 and 0-1 in GMC play.

In a matchup of aces, both on the hill and in the dugouts, Tinora’s lead man Brent Renollet sent senior righty Andrew Imthurn to the hill, Fairview skipper Andy Singer sent Caleb Frank. Both Renollete and Singer have over 600 combined wins, both also with a 70%+ winning percentage.

After scoring a run without a hit in the top of the 1st inning, the Apache ace Frank shut down the high-powered Rams attack over the next 3 innings. The Rams were held hitless for the first 4 innings, not until a Marcus Grube single in the 5th inning did the Tinora offense register a hit.
After the Grube single gave Tinora a 3-1 lead, the Rams offense seemed to get a much-needed spark, scoring two runs in the 5th, three more in the 6th, and 4 in the 7th for a 10-5 win. Bryce Bailey with a huge AB in the 6th, scoring 2 on a fielder’s choice, giving Tinora a 6-3 lead.

Fairview’s Austin Bostater tied the game at 3 with a RBI double in the bottom of the 5th. Jackson Grine with 2 solo home runs for Fairview.

Caleb Frank went 6 innings for Fairview, pitching extremely well in the defeat. 5 huge Apache errors played a part in the Rams late-inning runs.
Andrew Imthurn went the distance, striking out six for the complete game victory, his fourth win of the season.

Andrew gained the Higbea Embroidery Player of the Game award for his dual roles on the hill and at the plate. Imthurn went 2-3 with a single, double, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored.
